The CobraPLA is an advancement in supralaryngeal airway management.
The CobraPLA (Perilaryngeal Airway) is designed to be positioned in the hypopharynx
where it abuts the structure of the laryngeal inlet.
The patented Cobra head design of the distal end of the CobraPLA holds both the soft tissue and
the epiglottis out of the way, facilitating ventilation through the slotted openings.
The softened distal tip of the Cobra head provides easy passage of the device into the
hypopharynx by bending in the direction of the glottis as the CobraPLA is inserted.
The CobraPLA breathing tubes large inner diameter increases air flow. This increased diameter,
along with the gently curved ramp near the distal end, facilitates easy insertion of the
bronchoscope for verification of correct placement. The cuff, when inflated, gently seals off the
upper airway, allowing improved positive pressure ventilation.
